For most people, Matthew McConaughey is best known as the rom-com heartthrob or the guy who narrates those Lincoln car commercials. But in a new Instagram post from his eldest son, Levi Alves, 15, we got to learn about a totally different side of the Texan.

Levi shared a sweet tribute in honor of his dad’s 54th birthday, where he wrote, “People know Matthew McConaughey as an actor and now a writer, but I know him as my father.”

The teenager continued: “The man who always makes time for us no matter what, the man who’s always there for us no matter what, and the man that taught me to appreciate the journey and not just the destination. The journeys just getting started…Happy birthday Papai.” (FYI: “Papai” is “dad” in Portuguese.)

In case you're unaware, Levi’s mother, AKA McConaughey’s wife, is Camila Alves, a Brazilian model and designer. She has been with McConaughey since 2006 and the pair tied the knot in 2012.

They are also parents to a daughter named Vida, 13, and another son, named Livingston, 10.

When Levi turned fifteen years old this past July, his parents helped him celebrate by allowing him to make his own Instagram account.

Since then, the teen has mainly used his profile to share videos of his surfing excursions. Unsurprisingly, his famous dad has made a few appearances too.

McConaughey also comments on many of his son's videos. Just take a look at Levi’s first-ever post, where the Failure to Launch actor popped into the comments section and wrote, “Levi is l i v i n  #happybirthday.”
