Ever the supportive parents, Kelly Ripa, 52, and Mark Consuelos, 51, have become huge fans of the University of Michigan, because that is where their youngest child, Joaquin, 19, is currently a sophomore, and where he is also part of the college's wrestling team. And while it may not be a real short drive from New York City to Ann Arbor, Consuelos made the journey this weekend in honor of the Big 10 wrestling championships.
Mark Consuelos Dons UMich Gear as He Supports Son Joaquin at Wrestling Match
The new Live co-host took a selfie from the stands while sitting with a few pals and sporting a bright yellow UMich sweatshirt. On top of the photo, Consuelos tagged the University of Michigan's official wrestling team account, as well as the account for wrestling coach Israel "Izzy" Martinez, who sits immediately to Consuelos's right.
Martinez seems to be a former coach/mentor to Joaquin, based on a pose he shared in February. In the upload, he was pictured with the college-aged wrestler and the caption read, “Happy birthday to this young man @joaquinconsuelos! Throw back to 2020 when he spoke into existence that he was going to wrestle at the @umichwrestling. Cheers to making it happen. #happybirthday #teamconsuelos.”
It's unclear whether Ripa was also in attendance at the championship, but she was showing plenty of her support on social media. A couple days back, the All My Children alum posted a video from the UMich wrestling team's account to her own page, and her caption simply read, “Go Blue.” (Which is an expression used by University of Michigan fans, btw.)
Then, over the weekend, Ripa also shared a photo to her IG Story of UMich gear, and the text over the photo said, “#goblue @kellyripa.”
We love watching Mark and Kelly on TV, but we love watching them be supportive parents just as much.
