For Riverdale alum Mark Consuelos, there’s nothing quite like a reunion between old pals.
On Instagram, the 51-year-old actor shared a series of photos taken with his former castmates on the set of the CW drama series, Riverdale. It appears Consuelos returned to play his character Hiram Lodge in the final season of the show (the first episode is premiering this week, FYI), which he has not played since leaving the teen series after season five.
The first pic in the slideshow shows Consuelos smiling while surrounded by his Riverdale fam.
In the seventh photo, fans were treated to a celebratory father-daughter reunion moment between Hiram’s character and Veronica Lodge. The snap shows Consuelos standing next to his on-screen daughter, played by actress Camila Mendes, 28, who is rocking a vibrant red lip and curly wig with a straight-cut bang.
The All My Children star wrote in the caption, “Grateful to have spent a little time with some old friends. Beautifully directed episode by @madchenamick. Thank you @writerras for bringing Daddy Lodge home.”
Fans of the series were so happy to see Consuelos return as Hiram in the comments section, where one fan wrote, “So happy to have you back as Hiram Lodge.” Another said, “I can’t wait to see Hiram Lodge in season 7!!” Even his co-star Mendes shared her excitement by putting a crying face emoji under the post.
Back in October 2021, Consuelos announced that he was leaving the show after season five. At the time, he released a statement that read: “First and foremost, I would like to thank [showrunner] Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for this incredible opportunity. Never before has playing a character that was so bad, felt so good. Huge thanks to the Riverdale fandom, to the brilliant crew and amazing cast, whom I consider dear friends and family.”
