It’s officially November 1, so you know what that means: It’s time for Heidi Klum (aka the Queen of Halloween) to pass the torch to Mariah Carey (aka the Queen of Christmas).
As soon as the clock struck midnight, the 55-year-old singer shared her “It’s Time” video on Instagram, where she encouraged followers to embrace the Christmas season. While these videos have become an annual tradition, Carey took it one step further this year by dressing up as Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.
In the video, Carey is channeling the spooky character in a long black wig, dramatic makeup and a sparkly dress. After dancing with a man dressed as Gomez, the singer pushes him away and nearly hits him with a dagger.
Right on cue, the moody video transforms into a winter wonderland. While Carey sings her famous “It’s time” line, Gomez is magically turned into a snowman.
Last year, Carey began the countdown to the holiday season by sharing a similar video on social media. It featured a timer counting down the seconds until Halloween ended, and when the clock struck 12 p.m., a frozen vault door opened to reveal Carey (in a block of ice) waiting to be released.
Carey has been hailed as the Queen of Christmas for as long as I can remember. With the success of her smash-hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the festive albums to follow, it’s no wonder that the holidays are her favorite time of the year.
