Luke Bryan & Ryan Seacrest Say They Can See This Celebrity Replacing Katy Perry on ‘American Idol’

OK, I can totally see it

American Idol judge Katy Perry shocked fans (like myself) when she announced that she would be leaving the competition show after seven seasons back in February. But once the “California Gurls” singer bids a final farewell to the show, who will be there to take her place? Two of Perry’s American Idol colleagues, Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest, have one famous celebrity in mind.

Bryan and Seacrest caught up with Entertainment Tonight after a recent episode of American Idol premiered on ABC on April 23. During the episode, singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor appeared on the show as a guest host.

And when ET asked Bryan if the “All About That Bass” singer could be a possible replacement for Perry, the 47-year-old country singer told the outlet, “I think Meghan’s always been real fun. You know, that's kinda been her brand, to have fun.” He added, “[She’s] real witty, so certainly.”

But, Trainor is not the only celeb Bryan had in mind. He went on to tell Entertainment Tonight that he has thought of at least “10 names,” but he hasn’t pitched his list to the show’s producers just yet. As of right now, there has been no confirmation from ABC as to who will replace Perry on American Idol

Seacrest, who serves as a host on American Idol, shared the same sentiment about Trainor. “She was very good,” the former Live with Kelly and Ryan host said. “Megan is a super talent, too, and she's got a great sense of humor. She's fun and she's spontaneous.”

Earlier this year, Perry appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared that season 22 (which is airing now) may be her last. “This fall, in September, I'm going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio...so I think this will probably be my last season for Idol,” the “Firework” singer said at the time.

Perry went on to share how much working on American Idol has meant to her. “I mean, I love Idol so much. It's connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat,” she revealed.
