Get ready to dance with Lizzo!
The Grammy-Award winning singer is venturing into the world of reality TV with her new show, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
The new two-minute trailer starts with the “Truth Hurts” singer making a special announcement. She is looking for dancers. Not just any dancers, but plus-sized dancers to join her on tour.
“I’m looking for dancers to join me on my tour,” she says in the teaser. “Girls that look like me don't get representation. Time to pull up my sleeves and find them myself. We thick and we pretty and we know what we bout. It’s the battle of the big girls.”
The reality series follows ten contestants that move into the “Big Grrrls House.” They must compete in a series of challenges and whoever makes it to the end gets to join Lizzo on tour.
At one point during the video, Lizzo is shown talking to the dancers and becomes overcome with emotion. “It's hard to love yourself in a world that doesn’t love you back. You were created specially in your image for you to enjoy,” she said while in tears. “It’s time to show the world how we do it. Watch out for the big girls.”
After the trailer’s debut, Lizzo took to Instagram to celebrate the release with fans. “I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE…TURN IT UP—This is the greatest moment of my career yet,” she wrote along with the trailer. “Y’all know how hard it's been finding dancers that look like me. But if I gotta get a TV show to get the world to see the value in us big grrrls B*TCH IMMA DO IT.”
