Is it really the Oscars if an attendee doesn’t face-plant at some point in the night?
Apparently not, as evidenced by this evening’s wipeout. While walking the 2024 Academy Awards red carpet, actress and media personality Liza Koshy became the night’s first casualty.
The 27-year-old Youtube star took her spill in a dramatic, tight-fitting red off-the-shoulder gown by Marchesa and *extremely* tall red platform heels—a combination that we can say in hindsight was almost asking for a fall.
Thankfully, she recovered quickly and gracefully with the help of a few bystanders who lifted her back on her feet. Barely missing a beat, she even continued to pose for photos (albeit not without a few spotters in case she lost her balance again).
Koshy, who is attending the event to promote her new Netflix show, Players, is also known for her role as a former host on MTV’s Total Request Live, and has voiced characters in various Disney shows such as Hamster & Gretel.
This Oscars ceremony marks the 96th year of the awards ceremony, and it will once again take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel will reprise his role as host from last year—his fourth time hosting overall.
