Kevin Bacon, 64, and Kyra Sedgwick, 57, are about to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary, and while we're super happy for the couple, there's one big question that we can't help but wonder: How have they kept their relationship strong for such a long time?

Well, in a new interview with People magazine, Sedgwick divulges that humor is the one major element that has kept the spark alive. “A sense of humor is crucial,” she told the publication. “[Kevin] is very freaking funny.”

Of course, humor can't solve everything, and Sedgwick adds that their relationship has also been sustained by their support for one another. “We've always been each other's biggest support and fans,” she says.

Bacon adds that it's the small things that help enrich their relationship as well. “To me, walking down the street together just shooting the s**t in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be,” the Apollo 13 actor says.

Bacon and Sedgwick first met on the set of the PBS television film, Lemon Sky, based on the Lanford Wilson play of the same name. They got married on September 4, 1988.

Since then, the couple have welcomed two kids together—Travis, 33, and Sosie Ruth, 31. Throughout their relationship, the couple have also starred in a number of films together, including Pyrates, Murder in the First, The Woodsman and Loverboy. Meanwhile, Bacon also acted as a director on 4 episodes of Sedgwick's hit drama series The Closer.

We can't wait to see how the couple celebrates their 35th wedding anniversary this coming September.
