King Charles and Queen Camilla Shared This Sweet Moment on the Buckingham Palace Balcony

Unless it's your wedding, it's not every day that you get to dress up alongside your loved one and be blessed by a religious leader. However, when King Charles III, 74, was crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury with Queen Camilla, 75, by his side, it was just as much a formal ceremony as it was a special moment between the royal couple.

After the two were officially made king and queen consort, they shared an especially sweet moment while standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony later that afternoon. In a few great shots, the couple were seen looking at each other and smiling (and clearly, love was in the air).

This wasn't the only tender moment between the couple. Earlier that day, during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, a visibly emotional Camilla curtsied to her husband moments after being crowned, and they both exchanged eye contact and smiled (as seen in the video here).

We've been leading up to this moment for a while, ever since Queen Elizabeth II named Charles as her successor back in 2018. Of course, as her eldest child, it was already assumed that he would take the throne, but the late monarch issued a formal request for his appointment to the Commonwealth Heads of Government five years ago.

Meanwhile, in an Instagram post on February 5, 2022, Queen Elizabeth made it known that she wanted Bowles to be recognized as a queen consort. “And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” she wrote.

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla have been married since 2005, following the king's divorce from Princess Diana in 1996 and Bowles's divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles in 1995.

The two were wed at the town hall at Windsor Guildhall, and their eldest sons, Tom Parker, 48, and Prince William, 40, acted as witnesses to the union.

Talk about a full-circle moment for their royal romance.
