A stunning portrait, indeed

Another day, another striking royal portrait.

A stunning photo of the king and queen was recently taken while they attended a Sunday service at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate. In a black-and-white image snapped by royal photographer Max Mumby on February 11, King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, appear to be walking alone outside the church.

Below, the monarch (with an umbrella in hand) is looking up at the sky while walking beside his wife, who is wearing a black hat with a furry brim and the same designer cream coat she wore during a musical event at Salisbury Cathedral last week.

On the same day as the church service, His Majesty also posted a personal message to well-wishers on Instagram and the official royal website thanking them for all of their support during this time. “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” the king wrote. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

This recent outing marks the king’s first public appearance following his cancer diagnosis, which was discovered after he was admitted to The London Clinic for three days to receive treatment for his enlarged prostate

While the monarch undergoes treatment, Buckingham Palace revealed in a statement released on February 5 that King Charles will not participate in any public royal engagements at this time. However, he will “continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

Get well soon, King Charles.
