Earlier this week, a Buckingham Palace insider shared rare details about the couple’s relationship—including how the monarch leans on his wife for support, especially when they’re traveling overseas. In fact, he prefers to travel with her than without her.
“The king gets great strength from the queen being there, not least when she keeps it real,” the palace official told BBC.
The aide also confirmed that King Charles is expected to resume full royal duties in 2025, as long as his cancer treatment continues to progress in a positive direction. “We’re now working on a pretty normal looking, full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on,” the official said.
The insider revealed that King Charles’s royal tour of Australia and Samoa has solidified his passion for travel. “He has genuinely loved this tour,” the official added. “He has genuinely thrived on the program. It’s lifted his spirits, his mood and his recovery. In that sense, the tour—despite its demands—has been the perfect tonic.”
They continued, “It is hard to overstate the joy that he takes from duty and service and being in public and seeing those crowds engaging with communities across the spectrum. That really does lift the spirits. You can see that.”
Fingers crossed the latest royal tour is the first of many to come.
