Following the Paris 2024 Olympics last month, King Charles promptly released a statement to celebrate Team Great Britain, who earned an impressive 65 medals (including 14 gold). Now, His Majesty is honoring all Paralympic athletes for their efforts at this year's Paralympic Games.

In case you missed it, Team GB finished second on the Paralympics medal table, earning a total of 124, including 49 gold. China came in first with a total of 220, while Team USA came in third with 105. To celebrate their victory, the king, 75, took to Instagram this weekend and posted a colorful, Paris-themed graphic to share his sentiments. He wrote, "As this wonderful summer of sport comes to a close in Paris, my wife joins me in sending our heartfelt congratulations to the Paralympian athletes from Great Britain and Northern Ireland—and from across the whole Commonwealth—for their numerous successes at this year’s Games."

He continued, "Behind every medal won lies a wonderful story of courage, commitment and true talent, matched by a determination that has taken you to the very top. We rejoice in your victories, while saluting and celebrating all those who have taken part, as well as thanking the support teams who play such a special part in your achievements. Your example has succeeded in inspiring, encouraging and lifting the hearts of all," adding his personal signature, "Charles R."

FYI, the letter “R” stands for “Rex,” which is the Latin translation for “king.” His Majesty has used the signature in quite a few of his letters, including his message to England's soccer team in July, and even Queen Camilla has included the letter "R" to her unique signature. However, in her case, “R” stands for “Regina,” which means “queen” in Latin. (His Majesty's late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, included the letter in her unique signature, “Elizabeth R,” as well.)

One proud supporter commented, "All of our GB Team are elite athletes, and did us proud this past couple of weeks in Paris. Many congratulations." Another wrote, "Our Paralympians have been truly amazing and have proven that hard work can bring fantastic results."

Fun fact: Team GB has finished second in the medal table every year except for London 2012. This year, they competed in 19 sports and won medals in 18 of them. According to BBC, their most successful sport was swimming, where they earned a total of 32 medals (18 gold), and British swimmer Poppy Maskill earned the most for Team GB.

The team's Chef de Mission, Penny Briscoe, told BBC, "Paris has been an incredible Games for ParalympicsGB, both on and off the field of play. The athletes and staff have had an incredible Games experience here in Paris. I don't think we could be going home any happier."

Congrats to Team Great Britain on a job well done!
