Much like how Kate Middleton originally wanted to name her firstborn son Alexander (but she and Prince William decided to go with George), King Charles wanted to name his second son after a famous royal, but the late Princess Diana was definitely not on board.

In an excerpt from Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare (reposted by Buzzfeed News), the Duke of Sussex, 39, revealed that his dad wanted to name him after Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert Consort.

In the book, Harry explained that the monarch was a fan of the famous consort at one point. However, Princess Diana was not too fond of the moniker. “Mummy blocked him,” he wrote.

So, the couple found a solution. In the end, Albert became one of Harry’s middle names: Henry Charles Albert David. (FYI, Harry's real name is Henry.)

Meanwhile, Princess Catherine and Prince William had a rather interesting way of choosing their first child’s name. When it came time for them to decide on a name, according to The Times, the couple turned to their dog, Lupo, who sadly passed away in 2020

Catherine and William wrote their top names on a piece of paper and put it on the floor for Lupo to pick. Ultimately, Lupo chose the names George, Alexander and Louis. And that’s what inspired the couple to name their eldest son George.

Henry just seems more fitting for the royal spare...
