I can spend hours talking about Kate Middleton and her headline-worthy fashion. But when it comes to King Charles, there’s only so much I can say about his go-to suit and tie. That all changed during his latest royal outing, where he looked especially dapper in a military uniform.

This week, the 75-year-old monarch traveled to Scotland to visit the Royal Navy crew members who are stationed at HN Naval Base Clyde. King Charles showed his gratitude for their service by dressing to impress in an official uniform. He even accessorized with a captain hat for good measure.

The royal family shared details about the king’s visit in a post on Instagram, which featured striking footage of the monarch interacting with the crew members and their families.

The caption read: “His Majesty paid a visit to @royalnavy crew members stationed in Scotland yesterday to thank them and their families for their service. [British flag emoji] As well as meeting serving personnel and their loved ones, The King boarded a Vanguard-class vessel and was given a tour.”

It continued, “Before departing the submarine, His Majesty met the Submariners who have spent the greatest amount of time under the waves. [wave emoji] Thank you to all our Armed Forces for your service!”

Prior to his latest outing, King Charles had visited the military base twice before—in 2011 and 2013. However, this was his first time at the Scottish facility since becoming Head of State and Chief of Staff of the British Armed Forces.
