To mark the anniversary of his mother’s passing, King Charles has penned a heartfelt letter about Queen Elizabeth II for all royal fans to read on social media.

The king, 74, shared the message on the royal family’s Instagram Story. The note read: “In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.”

The letter continued, “I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.” And to make sure everyone knew the words were his own, the king signed the note, “Charles R.”

Aside from his signature, the letter also included an honorary symbol for Balmoral Castle on the top of the page, which is where the queen spent her final days.

But, that’s not the only way the king honored his mom’s memory. Before the anniversary, King Charles also posted the same letter on X (formerly known as Twitter) along with a montage video that featured a portrait of the late monarch dressed in royal attire.

The tribute video also included a photo of King Charles, his wife and the late queen standing on top of the Buckingham Palace balcony during the royal’s Platinum Jubilee celebration back in June 2022.

This photo was shared just hours before the royal family posted a beautiful portrait of the former queen on their official account. In the portrait, a younger Queen Elizabeth II is smiling in a periwinkle dress with a pearl necklace and matching earrings. As for the caption, it read, “In loving and everlasting memory.”

Beautiful words from the king.
