Although King Charles III, 74, and Camilla Parker Bowles, 75, had to say “auf Wiedersehen” to Germany, the whirlwind state visit is still on their minds. They shared a special message this morning on Instagram to show their appreciation for the trip.

The monarch and his wife penned a personal note on the post, which read: “Over the past three days, on our first State Visit, we have been most fortunate to have had the opportunity to be with you all once more in Germany, a country which is so close to our hearts. Thank you for such a touching and warm welcome—we hope to return again soon!”

To indicate that they had written the message themselves, the pair also signed the caption with “Charles R and Camilla R.”

Along with this appreciative note, the couple posted a video montage, which included clips from their visits to the Bellevue Palace, the Komische Oper Berlin, the St. Nikolai Memorial and more. Viewers could also see the pair being greeted by German citizens waving flags as they arrived.

In a fitting choice, the video compilation was soundtracked by the German version of The Beatles song “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” titled, “Komm, gib mir deine Hand.”

This was the first state visit for the royal couple since King Charles's accession to the throne back in September 2022. On Saturday, May 6, the official coronation ceremony will take place, during which both members will be crowned into their new roles.

Originally, this trip was supposed to include a visit to France as well. However, due to recent protests in the country, the King and Queen Consort had to delay their visit.

We can't wait to see where these two journey next.
