King Charles & Camilla Make First Joint Appearance Following Release of Prince Harry's Tell-All Book

Prince Harry may have written quite a bit about King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles's relationship in his new memoir, Spare, but the royal couple was all smiles in their first joint appearance since the book's release.

On Sunday, January 15, the monarch and his wife were spotted driving together in Scotland, while they were headed to Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle. This outing took place less than a week after Spare hit bookshelves.

In case you've yet to read the record-breaking memoir, the duke gets candid about his first impressions of Camilla and how he felt about her relationship with his father. But perhaps one of the biggest bombshells is when he recalls his father's response to both him and his brother, Prince William, when they asked him not to marry Camilla.

According to Harry, the initial introductions were successful, but he was still worried that the wedding would stir up quite a bit of drama.

He wrote, "You don't need to remarry, we pleaded. A wedding would cause controversy. It would incite the press. It would make the whole country, the whole world, talk about mummy, compare mummy and Camilla, and nobody wanted that. Least of all Camilla."

The royal echoed the same sentiments in his interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, noting that he saw Camilla as the "villain."

He said, “We didn’t think [getting married] was necessary. We thought that it was gonna cause more harm than good and that if he was now with his person, that—surely that’s enough. Why go that far when you don’t necessarily need to? We wanted him to be happy. And we saw how happy he was with her. So, at the time, it was, ‘OK.’”

Despite his sons' concerns, King Charles still decided to marry the former duchess at Windsor Guildhall in 2005.

Harry’s new memoir officially dropped on January 10, and royal enthusiasts are still reeling from all the juicy details of his life with the British royal family. But neither the king nor Camilla have issued any statements regarding Prince Harry's work. Since then, the two have been about their royal duties as usual.

Here's hoping we'll get their take on this memoir in the not-so-distant future.
