We totally didn't see this coming...the newest star to join American Horror Story for season 12 will be none other than Kim Kardashian.
The news was revealed this afternoon, when Kardashian shared a video to her Instagram with emojis of eyes and a drop of blood. In the clip, we hear a creepy rendition of “Rock-a-bye Baby” playing in the background while text flashes across the screen that reads: “Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are Delicate. AHS12.”
Roberts is less of a surprise, given that she has starred in multiple seasons of the anthology series, including Coven, Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse and 1984. However, Kardashian is a major twist.
In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that creator Ryan Murphy was first interested in Kardashian after watching her SNL hosting gig back in 2021. Per THR, “[Murphy and Kardashian] began speaking last summer about crafting a unique role for her scripted TV debut.”
In a statement to the site, Murphy said: “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family.”
For the first time in AHS history, the show will be adapted from a source material—an upcoming thriller from Danielle Valentine titled Delicate Condition (out August 1). In a blurb for the book, the publisher writes: “The Push meets The Silent Patient in a gripping thriller that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens—while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says.”
This season of AHS is subtitled Delicate, and it will be written solely by Halley Feiffer (a first for the show as well). Murphy also told THR, “Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
Kardashian is largely known for her part in the hit reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and she is currently part of the Hulu reality spinoff The Kardashians.
