Kerry Washington Just Shared a Rare Throwback Pic with Her Parents & This Small Detail Caught My Eye

Kerry Washington is always sharing the best TBTs on Instagram and in her most recent one, something caught my eye.

Last week, the Scandal star shared an IG post of two images in honor of the one-year anniversary of her memoir, Thicker than Water. The first image is a throwback of her parents sitting poolside with a toddler Washington sitting on her mom's lap. The second image was taken in the present day with Washington sitting in between her parents as she holds a copy of her book, but it was this small detail in both photos that caught my eye. The actress is the spitting image of her mom, and I can't believe it took me so long to see the similarities. I mean, just look at their cheekbones. And don't forget their twinning noses. Washington's memoir is a deep dive into her private life, divulging her childhood traumas and trailblazing career, with reviewers praising the actress's honesty and vulnerability. But it was this tidbit (the reason behind the memoir) that had me itching to read it immediately. In 2018, the star discovered that her dad, Earl, isn't actually her biological father. This shocking discovery then led the star to want to tell the world her true story.

"This is really kind of me working to understand my life up until now, given this new information that I have that, in many ways, felt like sort of the missing puzzle piece," Washington told People.
