Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell must've taken fans' orders, because the pair just served up some exciting news: a sequel to their hit 1997 comedy film, Good Burger, is on the way.

The update was shared late last night, in a cold open on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the clip, Thompson is talking with the host backstage, and Fallon says, “Big show tonight, man. Big Good Burger 2 announcement. Where's Kel?”

Then, Mitchell walks in dressed as his Good Burger character, Ed (uniform and all), and before we know it, Fallon has changed into a Good Burger uniform as well. He then asks the pair if they can help him start the show, and all three then chant in unison: “Welcome to Good Burger 2, home of the Good Burger 2. Can we take your order, too?”

As millennials immediately rejoiced, the cold open was followed by an official press release, shared by People. In the release, Thompson said, “I can't believe it's been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can't wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”

Mitchell added, “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it's such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It's super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”

Good Burger originated as a comedy sketch on the popular Nickelodeon series All That. Then, the sketch was adapted into a feature length film in ’97, where it grossed over $23 million in the box office. Over the years, Good Burger has remained a cult classic.

In the 25 years since its release, we've seen Thompson and Mitchell transform into the beloved characters on rare occasions. In fact, the pair reunited for a Good Burger sketch on the Tonight Show back in 2015.

Now, fans can anxiously await Good Burger 2, which is slated to start production in May. Per the press release, the plot for the sequel is as follows: “Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”

We couldn't be more excited.
