We’ve spotted plenty of gorgeous couples on the Oscars red carpet this year, from Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade to John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. One of our faves of the night is Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who look decidedly elegant in all black.
Kelly Ripa Graces the Oscars Red Carpet in a Sheer Black Dress
So simple, so sophisticated
Ripa strutted the red carpet in a partially sheer black dress by Jason Wu, complete with a thigh-high slit, plunging neckline, textured pattern and a dramatic train on the side. She finished the look with black heels and a simple necklace, and rocked a classic, old Hollywood-esque hairdo with subtle waves. Ripa was styled by Audrey Slater.
We’re thinking black, see-through fits may be a favorite of Ripa’s. At last year’s Oscars, she stunned in a sleeveless, backless, sheer black gown, also by Jason Wu. She also rocked a ’90s-inspired hairdo with bombshell waves.
To no one’s surprise, Ripa arrived to the 96th Academy Awards on the arm of her husband, Mark Consuelos. He wore a simple tuxedo and bowtie, and had his hair in his signature coif. This year for the first time ever, the couple will be greeting Oscar winners moments after they accept their awards.
Ripa has done this before, but it’s her husband’s first time working the red carpet as an interviewer. Despite Consuelos being new to the gig, his wife has no doubts. “He’s got such a natural ease with people. And, unlike me, Mark knows most of the actors that we’ll be talking to,” Ripa explained to ABC.
In addition to this live show, the couple also prepared an opening that spoofs a few Oscar-winning films, like Barbie, Basic Instinct and Dirty Dancing. (See a sneak peek of the opener here.) Looking good, you two.
