There’s no denying that Ariana Grande’s transformation into Glinda in Wicked was nothing short of spectacular. However, I never realized just how talented makeup artist Kristofer Buckle is…until now.
This week, Kelly Ripa shared a sneak peek of herself undergoing a major makeover to become Glinda. And the results are shockingly good.
The video features a montage of Buckle transforming Ripa into Glinda with makeup and a wig. The contouring is so on point, Ripa looks identical to Grande. Everything from the dimples to the bright eyes are eerily similar to Grande’s version of the character.
The caption read, “Follow me beyond Oz into the land of make believe. Let’s hear it for the actual wizards.”
Following the transformation, Ripa pranked her husband, Mark Consuelos, who thought she was Grande. “It was very funny because I could see he was secretly annoyed and doing that fake nice thing at first,” Ripa said. “He was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, hiiiii!.’ And then once I spoke, his face totally changed and he was like, ‘Wait a minute.’”
Consuelos added, “She completely fooled me because when I grabbed the phone, I truly thought that was Grande. It was freaky!”
Ripa also tricked her 23-year-old daughter, Lola. “I FaceTimed my daughter and her best friend while I was in costume and fooled both of them, too,” she said. “It was great.”
