Kelly Ripa Nearly Had a Cue Card Mishap on ‘Live’ Today: ‘It’s Not My Fault’

Kelly Ripa apparently has a new motto today—“It’s not my fault”—which she repeated approximately five times in a new backstage video clip from Live with Kelly and Ryan.

On Wednesday, the producers of the morning show shared their daily clip of the 50-year-old actress and the 45-year-old American Idol alum leaving their dressing rooms and making their way to start filming. In the hallway, the TV personality repeatedly told Seacrest that something wasn’t “her fault,” although the clip did not provide context on what she was referring to.

After the duo took their seats on stage, Ripa began by introducing the date. “It is Wednesday, February 17th, 2021,” Ripa says in the video. “Although the cue cards make it look like it's 2024.” In reference to nearly reading the wrong number, again she adds, “It’s not my fault,” to which Seacrest jokingly replies, “We should know the year.”

This actually isn’t the first time the All My Children alum has gotten mixed up with dates. In fact, she made a similar mistake on last Wednesday’s show, while hosting the episode without Seacrest.

“Morning everyone,” she said in another clip. “Hi, welcome. It is Wednesday, February 10, 2020. Ryan is under the weather today. Don’t panic, in these new COVID times we always err on the side of caution. Plus, it’s hump day and who better to sit here than me?” Yup, Ripa mistakenly said 2020.

With the craziness 2020 and 2021 (already) have brought us, we can’t blame Kelly or the cue cards for the confusion. We’ve totally been there.
