We love a good cover song, but Kelly Clarkson's latest might just take the crown for best one yet. During a live-stream of a segment of her concert called "A Minute and a Glass of Wine," Clarkson performed her own rendition of the songthe song "Shallow" from A Star Is Born and, holy hell, did she deliver.
"We're going to do our version of it because I don't have a Bradley Cooper here," she told audiences before breaking into the Grammy-winning hit, but it turns out she really didn't need a Bradley. Clarkson belted out both halves of the duet just like Gaga did herself at this year's Grammy Awards, totally crushing it and making our hearts soar all over again.
The song starts at the 8:40 mark, but even before paying tribute to A Star Is Born, Clarkson talks a bit about her relationship to Gaga as a fellow performer and the love is real, guys.
"I know there's a lot of competition noise with artists in the industry, but there's a lot of us that just dig each other and we really get inspired by each other," Clarkson said.
"We're really different, but we're really similar in the fact that she loves music and that's why she's doing what she's doing. Honestly, I remember her first single, we actually did a show together combined for some event, and she is one of the only artists that has ever [sent] me a handwritten letter saying, 'Thank you so much, it was an honor to open for you.' She's the nicest lady ever."
Looks like Gaga is as polite as she is talented. The show they both performed at was a Grammy's Celebration tour all the way back in 2009, which means it's been far too long since these two powerhouse singers have shared a stage. Fingers crossed that Gaga will make an appearance on Clarkson's talk show when it airs this fall (with a possible duet, please?).
