Keke Palmer Speaks Out About Zendaya Comparisons: ‘I’ve Had a Blessed Career Thus Far’

Keke Palmer is setting the record straight about her career.

The 28-year-old actress recently addressed a Twitter user who compared her career to Zendaya. The post read: “I’d like someone to do a deep dive on the similarities and differences between Keke Palmer and Zendaya's careers. This may be one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in Hollywood.”

Though Palmer didn’t respond to the tweet directly, she posted her own response on her Twitter page. The Nope star took a moment to celebrate her accomplishments, writing, “A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon, & the youngest & first Black Cinderella on Broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS, is Keke Palmer.”

In a follow-up tweet, she added, “I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11 years old. I have over 100+ credits, and currently starring in an original screenplay that’s the number one film at the box office #NOPE. I’ve had a blessed career thus far, I couldn’t ask for more but God continues to surprise me.”

Before starring in Euphoria, Zendaya got her start on Disney Channel—starring in shows like Shake it Up! and K.C. Undercover. Palmer had her breakout role in the 2006 film Akeelah and the Bee. She went on to have numerous acting credits, including Hustlers and Scream Queens. She even co-hosted Good Morning America’s afternoon show Strahan, Sara & Keke.

Thank you, Keke, for putting an end to this unnecessary comparison.
