Is it just us or has Katie Holmes basically become her own ongoing fashion week?
The 40-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum has been crushing the red carpet and street style game all summer and it appears she’s not slowing down for fall.
Holmes shared an Instagram photo of herself enjoying a “New York moment” on the streets of Manhattan yesterday and she looked so chic we want to replicate her outfit this weekend.
The actress wore a silk slip dress with lace appliqué with a beige blazer nonchalantly draped over her shoulders. She accessorized the look with drop earrings, a tangle of necklaces, the Gabriela Hearst Demi bag ($1,795) in white and Rothy’s flats (not photographed, but tagged in her caption).
The slip dress reigned supreme during this summer’s warm months, but thanks to Holmes we’re now starting to think of it as the perfect transitional piece. Wear it under a blazer, leather jacket or chunky cardigan or even pull a turtleneck sweater on under it and voila.
Although Holmes sadly didn’t credit her silk frock or neutral blazer, you can create the look with the Topshop lace and satin slip dress ($75), the Vince satin slip dress ($213) or the Positively Conscious Voz slip cami dress ($495). Throw the Topshop Raw Edge boyfriend jacket ($75), Vince flannel boyfriend blazer ($371) or the Theory Staple wool and silk blend blazer ($401) over your shoulders and you’re good to go.
Katie Holmes is perfectly moving from Hot Girl Summer into Cozy Girl Fall. We’re just gonna go ahead and follow her lead.
