Katie Holmes Just Stepped Out in the Most Controversial Shoe Trend of the Summer

Since her Dawson’s Creek days, we’ve looked to Katie Holmes for relatable fashion inspiration. The woman knows overalls can be sexy and she’s not afraid to rock a bold print with statement sleeves. While we appreciate those style instincts, we cannot say the same for her recent decision to rock a ’90s trend that should have definitely remained in the past.

We regret to inform you, dear reader, that Holmes just wore high-heel flip-flops…again.

The actress first donned the Gianvito Rossi Calypso kitten heels ($695) exactly one year ago in New York. And now, Holmes was spotted re-wearing the controversial shoes during a mother-daughter outing with Suri Cruise (14).

During the recent sighting, Holmes paired the kitten heels with a patterned dress, along with a matching tote and face mask.

Back in 2019, Holmes wore the Gianvito Rossi Calypso kitten heels for a day out in New York (pictured above). She paired her high-priced thongs with a vintage jean jacket, a black-and-white striped cotton dress, tortoiseshell sunnies, delicate gold jewelry and a red Chanel cross-body bag.

While we don’t condone the use of high-heel flip-flops, we have to give Holmes props on the outfits she’s pulled together. If ever there was an ensemble that would make these shoes “work,” it’s definitely Holmes’s casual day look.

But, while we might replicate the oversize jean jacket and striped dress combo, we’ll probably just opt for normal flip-flops. Just saying.
