From ditching ballet flats for grandpa sandals to wearing the “it” color of the season, Katie Holmes is always one step ahead of the latest fashion trends. In fact, I was so distracted by her statement belt that I nearly missed her all-new hairstyle.
Last month, the 46-year-old actress was spotted in New York City wearing a bold gold belt that cinched her waist. In a fun change, Holmes opted against her signature all-down hairstyle and rocked a casual braid that fell down her shoulder.
The Dawson’s Creek star accessorized with a coordinating black beanie, but she curled the pieces around her face to elevate the hairdo without styling her entire head. Holmes completed the look with a baggy pair of jeans and a black jacket with gold buttons that complemented her statement belt.
This isn’t the first time that Holmes’s fashion and styling have caught my attention. Back in October, the actress sported one of the holiday season’s biggest dress trends when she attended the CFDA Awards: statement bows.
When Holmes walked the red carpet, she did so in a long-sleeved Carolina Herrera gown with angular cut outs at the waist. The top half of the garment was a bright poppy pink, while the skirt portion was a vibrant cherry tomato red (also trending RN!), but the most unexpected part of the look was a long and simple black bow with tails that trailed down her back.
