It’s that time of the year again: back-to-school season. Every parent must experience the bittersweet moment of sending their children to school, whether they’re starting their first day or leaving for college. And for Firefly Lane actress Katerine Heigl, she can’t help but feel all the emotions.
Katherine Heigl Holds Back Tears as She Drops Her Three Children Off at School

Last week, the Grey’s Anatomy alum posted a photo slideshow on her personal Instagram page, showing all three of her children leaving for school. The first photos show her two daughters, Naleigh Mi-Eu (13) and Adalaide (10), sharing an embrace and poking fun at each other as they prepare to head back to school.
The rest of the pics show her youngest son, Joshua (5), starting his first day of kindergarten. In the last photo, he is waiting for the bus fully dressed in his first-day outfit, consisting of a blue/white plaid shirt, navy blue trousers, red shoes and a Dragon Ball Z backpack.
Heigl wrote in the caption, “Well it’s that time of year again. Back to school for these two and off to kindergarten for my last and final baby. I feel funny. Like maybe I might start crying. Or maybe I’ll just run around the house for the next seven hours intermittently yelling FREEDOM!!! We’ll see. 😏❤️.” (#Relatable)
Yet, The Ugly Truth actress is not the only celebrity parent feeling the same emotions that come with sending their children off to school. Earlier this month, Angelina Jolie dropped her eldest daughter, Zahara, off at Spelman College to prepare for her freshman year.
The Eternals actress met with the Vice President for Student Affairs (Darryl Holloman) and the school’s president (Dr. Helene Gayle). In a short video later posted to Instagram, Holloman asked what it’s like being a “Spellman mom,” to which Jolie responded, “I’m gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet.”
