First, it was a representative for Kate Middleton. Then it was Prince William. And now, Princess Catherine’s uncle is sharing details about the duchess’s recovery from abdominal surgery.
Meet Gary Goldsmith, the younger brother of Princess Catherine’s mom, Carole Middleton, and a current contestant on Celebrity Big Brother UK. During a conversation with housemate Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Goldsmith explained why Princess Catherine has been so secretive about her health.
“Because she doesn't want to talk about it," he said during the episode (according to E! News). “There’s a kind of code of etiquette. But if it’s announced, I’ll give you an opinion.”
Goldsmith went on to share more details about Princess Catherine’s recovery, adding, “I spoke to her mum, my sister. She’s getting the best care in the world. All the family has done is put the wagons around and look after family first, before anything else.”
The commentary came just a few days after Prince William broke his silence to address rumors about the Princess of Wales’s health. When asked for an update, a spokesman for the 41-year-old royal exclusively told People, “His focus is on his work and not on social media.”
A representative for Princess Catherine also released a statement to E! News explaining that nothing has changed since the palace’s original announcement in January. “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we'd only be providing significant updates,” the spokesperson said. “That guidance stands.”
