We Never Knew Kate Middleton & Queen Elizabeth Shared *This* Similar Passion

In case you were unaware, Kate Middleton is a big fan of photography.

Throughout her time as a royal, the Duchess of Cambridge has launched a community photo project and announced the winners of various photography awards, all the while taking some gorgeous snaps of her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

But now, we've learned there's another member of the royal family who shares a similar passion for capturing pictures: Queen Elizabeth II.

This revelation comes thanks to a new post on the royal family Instagram account. The family shared a slideshow of images that feature Queen Elizabeth snapping photos throughout the years. In the caption, they said, “To mark #WorldPhotographyDay, here are a few moments where The Queen has been pictured behind the lens.”

Some royal followers seemed as pleasantly surprised as we were. One user commented, “I’d love to view an album of Her Majesty’s photos…a view thru her lens!” Another wrote, “Love these photos.”

Of course, Kate Middleton wasn't going to miss the opportunity to post about one of her favorite hobbies. She and Prince William made a post on their own Instagram account in honor of the holiday, saying, “Photography has an amazing ability to create a lasting record of what we have all experienced and are experiencing.”

They continued by highlighting some submissions from the duchess's Hold Still project, adding, “That’s why this #WorldPhotographyDay we wanted to celebrate the youth of the #HoldStill2020 photography project and share the images from the ten youngest finalists. There is so much talent, creativity and curiosity displayed in each and every one. Thank you to the @NationalPortraitGallery for being the home and archive of all these incredible stories.”
