Prince William and Kate Middleton Share a Special Birthday Tribute to King Charles on IG

In case you missed it, King Charles rang in his first birthday as England's new monarch yesterday, and Prince William and Kate Middleton marked the occasion with a special tribute on Instagram.

The Prince and Princess of Wales posted a sweet message to the royal, who turned 74, on their Instagram Story and wrote, "Wishing a very happy birthday to His Majesty the King." They also included a fun photo of the king, who's smiling at what appears to be a public engagement.

The official royal family account also joined in to celebrate the big day. On their Instagram Story, they wrote, "Wishing His Majesty the King a very happy birthday today."

The same message was posted to their official Twitter account, and hundreds of fans replied to wish the king a happy birthday. One fan wrote, "Hope The King has a wonderful day today, surrounded by people who make him happy!"

In honor of his milestone birthday—and his new role as Park Ranger of Windsor Great Park—the royal family also released a stunning new portrait of the king, where he's seen posing against a giant oak tree in an open field. The caption reads, "His Majesty The King has officially become Park Ranger of Windsor Great Park, seventy years after his father, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, was appointed to the post."

It continues, "The Ranger of The Great Park offers oversight and guidance to the Deputy Ranger and his team in the day-to-day stewardship of one of the country’s oldest estates."

Royal fans may recall that the monarch also released a portrait to celebrate his 73rd birthday last year. In the snap, he sported a blue pinstripe suit while sitting on a bench at Highgrove. He captioned the post, “Thank you for the kind birthday wishes for The Prince of Wales today.”

Last year, the king's birthday fell on Remembrance Sunday, and he joined other members of the royal family to attended special services. For the London ceremony, King Charles, Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales laid wreaths to honor fallen veterans.

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to His Majesty.
