Kate Middleton Changes Up Her Look to Give Us Full-on Sporty Spice in New Announcement Video

Kate Middleton just switched up her signature hairstyle, and her new look is giving us major Sporty Spice vibes.

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge posted a video on the Instagram account she shares with her husband, Prince William, featuring herself tossing around a rugby football. Although the clip was inspired by the royal’s new title (Patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union), fans couldn’t help but notice that Middleton changed up her appearance a bit.

In the video, Middleton is sporting a stylish ponytail to keep her hair out of her face. Instead of slicking it back, she added volume by teasing the crown of her head and then smoothing the hair to create an undone look.

The hairstyle (in combination with the rugby-themed video) is reminding us of Sporty Spice, who often wore ponytails during Spice Girl performances. While it’s a fitting hairstyle for the occasion—and one we’ve seen from her in the past during more casual moments—the duchess typically styles her long locks in beachy waves, particularly as of late.

In the Instagram caption, Middleton wrote, “I am so thrilled to become Patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union—two fantastic organizations who are committed to harnessing the power that sport can have in bringing communities together and helping individuals flourish. I look forward to working with them across all levels of the games, and to cheering England on in what promises to be an exciting year for both sports!”

We’re loving this effortless hairstyle on Middleton.
