Dozens of New Kate Middleton Photographs Were Released Yesterday—I Noticed the Same Thing in All of Them

Princess Catherine never ceases to amaze me. As a royals reporter, I've been following Kate Middleton through some of the largest events in modern British history, from her wedding to Prince William to the birth of her three children to the shocking announcement that she is undergoing cancer treatment. Through it all, the princess has exuded grace, poise and strength.

And this past weekend, when Catherine returned to the public eye for the Wimbledon men's finals (alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte), I was amazed all over again.

I can't even begin to imagine what the princess was actually experiencing while sitting in the hot sun, under the ever-watching public eye, for the entirety of the Wimbledon finals match (not for a moment did I forget that she is currently battling cancer). Dozens and dozens of photos were snapped as she greeted well-wishers, enjoyed a standing ovation, watched the match and awarded a trophy to the winner, Carlos Alcaraz. And in so many of the pictures, I was struck by the same thing—Princess Catherine was smiling as brightly as ever, exuding joy and positivity.

In photo after photo, the princess (whether she was truly feeling like it or not) put on the face of poise and grace that we've all become accustomed to since we were first introduced to her. And it really was comforting and encouraging to see her smiling and laughing all day alongside her daughter (and sister, Pippa Middleton).

Though Catherine's appearance at Wimbledon wasn't a surprise (Kensington Palace gave the world a heads up the day before), her continued ease and joy throughout the event certainly were a surprise—a pleasant one.

Of course, this was only Princess Catherine's second appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis. She previously wowed us all during this year's Trooping the Colour alongside her husband, Prince William, and her three kids. Similarly, the princess spent the day as she would have during any other year, smiling and taking care of George, Char and Louis while the public watched closely.

Naturally, the tennis world is toasting Carlos Alcaraz today. But I'll be toasting Princess Catherine. She deserves it.
