Um, Kate Middleton Just Got Blonde Highlights?

Welp, we never thought this day would come, but Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has officially gone blonde. (Or started to, at least...)

Here's the comparison. The left-hand photo is from the Cambridges' visit to the Aga Khan center in London on October 2. The right-hand photo is from Middleton's surprise visit to the Natural History Museum on October 9 (wearing olive-green culottes and a purple turtleneck sweater, no less).

Big difference. HUGE.

The royal mom of three very obviously got her hair done recently, and added in some evenly spaced blonde highlights between her chestnut tresses. But this isn't the first major hair change Middleton has undergone in the past month.

Stepping out for the first time since their summer holiday to drop George and Charlotte off at their first day of school on September 5, Middleton debuted her glossy new hair color. She dyed her chocolate brown locks the shiny caramel-brown color you can see is now the base for her blonde highlights, and debuted a shorter, layered cut.

Basically, the duchess went back to the salon in the last week for the highlights. Her subtle, step-by-step changes make it harder to notice that she's actually gone from an allover deep, auburn-y brown to a caramel and blonde highlighted 'do. AKA a major hair transformation.

Why try to hide it, you ask? While it's not breaking royal protocol to dye your hair, it does send social media and the British tabloids into a tizzy. If the duchess wants the world to focus on the patronages she's attending and the charities they represent, it's better to not cause a fuss over her new 'do. We call it: the Royal Reveal (oooh, fancy).
