Kate Middleton turns heads and starts trends wherever she goes, but on Tuesday night her fashion icon status reached new heights with a sartorial nod to queens past.
The duchess attended the Anna Freud Centre gala dinner held at the Orangery at Kensington Palace wearing an ornate diamond quatrefoil bracelet that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth’s mother (the Queen Mother). The same bracelet was once spotted on the Queen Mother in 1958 and then again on Queen Elizabeth II’s white-gloved wrist at the State Opening of Parliament in 2010. The fact that QE II regularly lends family heirlooms to K-Middy illustrates how highly she regards her granddaughter-in-law.
Kate wore a floor-length black lace Diane von Furstenberg gown (that she wore once before in 2014) to accompany her dazzling new diamonds and accessorized the stunning look with a Prada clutch, the Queen’s diamond pendant earrings and a poppy brooch.
Between us girls, we’d consider giving up our firstborn to go shopping in Her Majesty’s jewelry collection.
