Kate Middleton Breaks Silence with Emotional New Message on Social Media

"Everyone suffering from addiction is another human being, with a story of their own"

In recent months, Kate Middleton has understandably been absent from the spotlight...for the most part. We did, of course, get her gorgeous Remembrance Day appearance and we got word of a hush-hush meeting at Windsor Castle. And royal fans have a few things to look forward to, such as her next royal outing (which is very soon) or her annual Christmas concert (which is still a "go").

But in the meantime, it seems Princess Catherine, 42, has broken her silence in support of a very important cause: Addiction Awareness Week 2024.

On social media yesterday, Taking Action on Addiction shared a rare message from the Princess of Wales. The posts were accompanied by a caption that read, "In support of this year's Addiction Awareness Week, we're delighted to share a new message by HRH The Princess of Wales, Patron of @theforwardtrust." (The Forward Trust is a charity that helps people in breaking the cycle of addiction.)

Princess Catherine's emotional personal statement said, "As Patron of The Forward Trust, I am delighted to once again support Addiction Awareness Week. It has been heartening to see that progress is still being made to end the stigma surrounding those battling addiction. For too long, many have suffered in silence, harbouring feelings of shame and guilt about their condition, despite their vulnerability."

She continued, "Everyone suffering from addiction is another human being, with a story of their own, which many of us don’t understand or see."

In a strong showing of empathy, the princess wrote, "It is not our place to judge or criticise, we must take the time to sit by someone’s side, learning the values of love and empathy. Being a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen, these simple acts of kindness are crucial in breaking down the misunderstandings that so many face."

"Addiction is not a choice. It is a serious mental health condition that could affect any one of us. By acting with humility and compassion we can all make a difference and support those who are suffering."

"Many charities up and down the country are guiding individuals and families through the toughest of times. But they cannot do it alone. It is up to each and every one of us to change the way we think about and consider the many people coping with addiction. Because recovery is possible."

Her beautiful words come just a few weeks after she made an appearance alongside Duchess Sophie at the National Service of Remembrance on November 10.

During that Remembrance Day appearance, dozens of gorgeous photos were snapped of the duo (and I noticed the same thing in all of them).

It's great to see the princess speaking out (and stepping out) for such important causes.
