Kate Middleton is showing off her style chops yet again. And while the Princess of Wales, 42, typically favors ultra-classic pieces, she occasionally dips her toe into trending details and silhouettes. Case in point, at an appearance yesterday, she sported one of the most popular trends of the year: a prominent bow.
ATTN, Millennials: Kate Middleton Rocked One of the Year’s Biggest Trends at Her Annual Christmas Concert
looking stylish as ever
Yesterday, Kate arrived at Westminster Abbey for her annual holiday concert, titled “Together at Christmas,” alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. This marked the fourth time Princess Catherine has hosted the Christmas carol concert. Considering she just recently completed chemotherapy treatments, some fans were surprised when the royal family confirmed her participation. However, she refused to back down because she has helmed the annual soirée every year since it began in 2021.
When it came to her outfit, the royal donned an ensemble that was certainly fit for the holiday occasion: a long, double-breasted coat and black boots. The icing on the sartorial cake? A large black bow at the center of her chest. The whole thing was classic, festive and just the sort of chic fit I've come to expect from her.
Though bow accents are never out of style, they've been particularly popular this year. Back in October, Assistant Commerce Editor Natalie LaBarbera called out bow-front cardigans as "the style all the cool girls are wearing now." Then just a few weeks ago, the perennially stylish Katie Holmes stepped out in a long-sleeve gown with a long but simple black bow tied at the back.
Kate's coat immediately brought to mind one of Pomander Place's most popular styles on Tuckernuck: the Coco Tweed Bow Dress (which has a nearly 5-star rating based on almost 500 reviews).

Though it's a dress (and not a coat, like Middleton's), it has a similar vibe, with its fiery red color, large black bow and classic silhouette. It's also, at $168, far more affordable than the princess's Alexander McQueen number—hers is custom, but long McQueen coats retail in the $4,000 range.
Thanks for the holiday dressing inspo (per usual), Kate!
