Joshua Jackson won’t stand for internet trolls, especially when it comes to his wife, Jodie Turner-Smith.
Joshua Jackson Calls Out Internet Trolls Who Took Issue with Wife Jodie Turner-Smith Proposing to Him
The Dawson’s Creek actor recently sat down for an interview with Refinery29, during which he opened up about the backlash his wife received from the internet after it was revealed that she had proposed to him during a trip to Nicaragua.
“For anybody who is freaked out by a woman claiming her own space, shut the f--k up,” he told the outlet. “Good God, you cannot believe the things people were leaving my wife on Instagram. She did it. I said 'yes.' We're happy. That's it. That's all you need to know.”
And this isn’t the first time he’s spoken about social media attacks on the Queen & Slim actress.
During a July appearance on The Tonight Show, Jackson explained the backlash his wife received for being the one to ask for his hand in marriage.
“Holy Jesus, the internet is racist and misogynist,” the 43-year-old said per E! News. “The way people get in her comments and the ignorance and ugliness that comes her way is truly shocking. And it has been a necessary, but an unpleasant education in just the way people relate to Black bodies in general, but Black female bodies in specific. It is not okay. We have a long way to go.”
Following their engagement, the couple secretly tied the knot in December 2019 and welcomed their first child together the following year.
And while they tend to keep their relationship close to the chest, it’s clear that when it comes to showing support for his wife, Jackson will continue to speak out.
