Leave It to Jonathan Van Ness to Steal the Virtual Red Carpet at This Year’s Emmy Awards

There might not be a red carpet this year, but Jonathan Van Ness managed to steal the show at the 72nd annual Emmy Awards

The Queer Eye actor posted a series of Instagram photos on Sunday evening, preparing for this year’s virtual show. “Emmy Look 2020,” he captioned the post alongside a laughing emoji. The hair guru pulled out a pair of heels and a comfy satin dress in preparation for the night's event. In the photos, we see the grooming guru posed in front of a full-length mirror and wardrobe. We’ll call this one “couch couture.”

Tonight’s three-hour -ong event is hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will be taking place virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic  This year’s gown reminds us of last year’s red carpet ensemble. ICYMI: Van Ness wore a strapless black minidress adorned with an elaborate mint green satin bow on the back. The item was a custom Christian Siriano.

The LBD featured a giant mint and lime green bow that extended into a dramatic train. To top it all off, he wore some heeled platform peep-toe boots.

Van Ness is among a handful of celebrities tuning in to the show from home this year. While some celebs have opted for full-blown couture (we’re looking at you Zendaya), Others (like Van Ness) are opting for the more casual look. Earlier in the day, the 33-year-old actor shared a series of photos of himself in a robe on his Instagram Stories.

JVN FTW.
