When the holidays roll around, I’m a sucker for any tip or trick that’ll make my hosting duties less chaotic. I already learned from Ina Garten, who revealed the two staples that are better store-bought than homemade. Still, I never expected to feel oddly comforted by Joanna Gaines’s storage advice, which involves stuffing her dishwasher with marshmallows and peanut butter.

Over the weekend, the Fixer Upper star, 46, posted a video on her personal Instagram account, where she shared priceless hosting advice. Gaines explained that she was planning on making holiday treats before guests came over but changed her mind and, therefore, had to find a place to stash all the ingredients.

“I had every intention of waking up today and getting after it [by] baking and making all of the Christmas candy that I always love to do every year,” Gaines says in the clip. “And then I woke up and was like, ‘You know what? I’m just not feeling it.’ But I also have some friends coming over tonight and had to hide everything. Let me show you how you do that. Let me show you the trick.”

Gaines opens her dishwasher to reveal a plethora of marshmallows, peanut butter and crackers stashed in the drawers. She adds, “Thanks to modern technology, a dual purpose dishwasher.”

But it doesn’t stop there. Gaines proceeds to reveal other hiding places in her kitchen. “What utensil drawer?” she says while unveiling drawers filled with flour and chocolate chips.

“Under the sink? Thank goodness for extra storage under the sink,” Gaines continues, revealing another cupboard stuffed to the max.

She concludes, “They’ll never know.”

Seems foolproof…until someone goes searching for a fork.
