Jimmy Fallon is taking the race for People’s Sexiest TV Host *very* seriously—so much so, he’s launched a hate campaign against fellow nominee Mark Consuelos

On a recent episode of The Tonight Show, the host, 50, encouraged fans to vote for him as the next Sexiest TV Host. Fallon jokingly explained that the other candidates (*cough, Consuelos, cough*) don’t need the confidence boost, and he will do whatever it takes to claim the highly coveted title.

In the video (see above), Fallon explained that he’s found an enemy in Consuelos, who is also in the running for Sexiest TV Host. Upon seeing the nominees, Fallon took the matter into his own hands. He said, “Earlier this week, I asked Mark Consuelos to drop out of the race.”

“He doesn’t need this. He’s sexy everyday,” Fallon added. “I don’t even get on these lists at all. Anyways, I guess he caught wind of what I said, and he decided to address it on his show, Live with Kelly and Mark.”

The host goes on to preview a clip from Consuelos’s talk show, where he showed a promotional video about the race for Sexiest TV Host and poked fun at Fallon’s request to step down from the race. As expected, this didn’t sit well with Fallon.

“I tried to be the bigger person. I tried to take the high road,” he jokingly added. “But when you mess with a man’s dignity, when you question his sexiness, you leave that man no choice.”

To retaliate, Fallon released his own advertisement shaming Consuelos for his un-sexy behavior. “Mark Consuelos says he’s the sexiest TV host, but look at the facts,” the voiceover said. “If Mark is so sexy, then why has his wife [Kelly Ripa] been on Jimmy’s show eight times?”

It continued, “Mark goes shirtless at the pool, but is he man enough to wear Spanx under his rashguard?”

After the ad concluded, Fallon apologized to Consuelos for taking it this far, saying, “Mark, I never wanted things to escalate this way. But here we are!”

May the odds be ever in your favor, gentlemen.
