Jillian Michaels Says There’s ‘No Such Thing as a Juice Cleanse’—Here’s Why

Personal trainer Jillian Michaels knows a thing or two about weight loss. So when she stopped by Bobbi Brown’s podcast, Long Story Short, we knew she would drop some sage advice.

One topic that was on the table? Juice cleanses. Here’s what Michaels thinks of the trend:

“There’s no such thing as a juice cleanse. What are you cleansing?” Boom.

She went on to explain why, saying, “The way we detox the body is through kidney, liver, spleen, lungs, right? So we’re supporting the function of these organs. Not eating is not doing that. And ironically, when you’re just juicing, you’re not giving your body the fiber to help remove the waste from your body, because that’s what fiber does. It provides the platform for the waste to get out of you.”

Brown asked Michaels, “So you’re saying no to juicing?”

“I mean, if you want to add it in!” said Michaels. “If you want to be like, ‘OK, I had a juice for breakfast,’ and you want to juice your veggies so you can get all the nutrients…but you want to eat your fruit. You need the fiber.”

You heard it here first, friends.
