Jeremy Allen White Reveals He Stole Castmate Zac Efron’s Wrestling Shorts

We can imagine some actors may want to take a special memento home from a set after filming because, you know, memories. Sure, we’ve heard of Mandy Moore taking a necklace that once belonged to her character from This Is Us or Jennifer Aniston keeping a dress worn by Monica on Friends. But actor Jeremy Allen White taking a pair of wrestling shorts from his Iron Claw co-star Zac Efron is definitely a new one.

On November 8, White, Efron and the rest of the ensemble cast attended the premiere of their new film The Iron Claw, which was shown at the Texas Theatre in Dallas. 

The A24 biopic, which is set to hit theaters on December 22, 2023, chronicles the life of the Von Erich family as well as how they built their wrestling empire. In the film, Efron and White star as two of the five Von Erich brothers, who rose to fame in the 1980s.

In a new clip shared on Entertainment Tonight’s X (formerly Twitter) page, an ET reporter talked to White about his wardrobe for the film. When the reporter asked The Bear star whether or not he was comfortable wearing such minimal clothing, White shared that he wasn’t the most “confident.” He explained, “Seven days of running around in your underwear, I guess, you get used to it.”

The 32-year-old actor (who plays Kerry Von Erich) wore wrestling attire throughout filming, which mainly consisted of tight spandex and nylon shorts. Though his confidence did improve with time, White went on to say that it was quite an adjustment. 

But here’s the kicker. The reporter then asked The Iron Claw star if he took a pair of his wrestling trunks home, to which White responded, “I wish I did. [But] I took Zac’s shorts home actually.” Umm, come again?! 

Sadly, we didn’t get any further explanation as to why he chose to steal Efron’s wrestling shorts in particular. And whether or not the High School Musical alum knows this piece of trivia remains a mystery.
