Jennifer Garner is celebrating a super-special occasion in honor of her cooking idol, Ina Garten.
Yesterday, the Alias alum, 48, shared a video on her personal Instagram account in celebration of the Barefoot Contessa’s 73rd birthday. The clip features a compilation of footage from Garner’s “Pretend Cooking Show,” highlighting all the times she’s mentioned, referenced and honored Garten during her adventures in the kitchen.
Garner begins with a catchy birthday song for Garten, saying, “They say it’s your birthday! Ina’s birthday!” The clip goes on to show how many times the actress has been inspired by the Barefoot Contessa while cooking.
“True confession: I have fresh nails. It must happen to Ina all the time. Her nails are always perfect,” Garner says in the clip. She then adds, “I like how Barefoot always goes [smashes garlic], and she keeps talking it’s no big thing.”
She captioned the post, “I promise I’m not obsessed with you, @inagarten. But if today happens to be your birthday—I really really hope it’s a good one.”
Garten eventually stumbled upon the tribute and wrote a heartfelt message in the comments section, which read: “O. M. G. That’s the BEST birthday present!! Looking forward to when this pandemic is over, and we can cook together again!! Love you so much!! [heart emojis].”
Garten is referring to when she hung out with Garner in her East Hampton, New York, home. The Peppermint star shared a selfie on Instagram from the get-together and wrote, “I understand if this brings up big feelings for you, but I spent the morning with @inagarten. In her barn kitchen, in her garden, having coffee…yes. It’s true. I even got a sneak peek of the new Barefoot Contessa cookbook— #CookLikeAPro—it’s fabulous. Thank you for the perfect morning, Ina, you are beloved for a reason. I can’t wait to continue the conversation. Jen.”
