Jennifer Garner’s Children Aren’t Allowed to Have Social Media Until They Can Prove *This*

Jennifer Garner is sharing details about why she won’t let her kids have social media. (And it’s pretty dang genius.)

This week, the 50-year-old actress made an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna and discussed the three children she shares with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck: Violet (17), Seraphina (14) and Samuel (11). Garner revealed that her oldest daughter, Violet, has shown interest in joining Instagram. So, the actress devised a foolproof plan to prevent her children from using social media.

“I just said to my kids, ‘Show me the articles that prove that social media is good for teenagers, and then we’ll have the conversation,’” said Garner.

The Yes Day star explained that if her kids can prove why they need it, then she’ll reconsider. “Find scientific evidence that matches what I have, that says that it’s good for teenagers,” she added. “Then we’ll chat.”

Garner admitted that her youngest children may persuade her in the future, but for now, she’s content with her decision. “We’ll see. I mean, it’s a long haul,” she said. “I have a couple more to go, so just knock on wood. We’ll see if I really hang in there.”

This isn’t the first time Garner has discussed her opinion on social media. The actress previously told Katie Couric how she handled the situation with Violet. “She’ll occasionally talk to me about getting Instagram, and I can see why because I’m on there and it’s something kind of fun that I do, and I am modeling the opposite of what I want for her to do,” she said during an episode of Next Question with Katie Couric.

We’re totally stealing this idea.
