8 Things You Need to Know About Jenna Dewan’s Fiancé (and Baby Daddy!), Steve Kazee

ICYMI: Jenna Dewan just announced she’s engaged to boyfriend (and soon-to-be baby daddy) Steve Kazee.

The big news comes just five months after the couple revealed they are expecting a child together and since the duo has kept their year-plus-long romance mostly private, we have so many questions. Here, eight things you need to know about the 38-year-old Step Up actress’s (now) fiancé.

Kazee, 43, starred in the Broadway production of Once, for which he received a Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical Tony in 2012. Prior to his award-winning role, he appeared as Timmy Cleary in the 2006 production of The Subject Was Roses at the Kennedy Center, Sir Lancelot in Spamalot in the 2007 Broadway production and as Bill Starbuck in the Broadway revival of 110 in the Shade. He also starred as Sobinsky in 2008’s To Be or Not to Be at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater.

Like Dewan, Kazee has dabbled in TV. He kicked off his small-screen career in 2006 on a series called Conviction and went on to appear the following year in both Medium and Numb3rs. In 2008, he had a small role on NCIS and in 2009, he appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He had a starring role on CMT’s 2011 series Working Class and most recently appeared in Elementary, Drop Dead Diva and Shameless. He can be seen above in a recent episode of The Walking Dead.

In addition to singing, Kazee is pretty gifted with his guitar. His musical skills in Once won him and the rest of the cast a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2013. He’s also featured in Christina Peri’s song “A Thousand years, Pt. 2,” which appears on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn–Part 2 soundtrack.

A cursory scroll through his Instagram reveals that he’s a huge fan of dogs. He and Dewan adopted a puppy named Cosmo from The Wagmor Pet Hotel & Spa in Los Angeles and he also owns two other pups named Stella and Violet. Talk about a full house.  

He’s such a fan of WWE that he has a whole Instagram Stories highlights section devoted to his passion. In it, you’ll see lots of pics and videos (many including Dewan) from WWE matches. Dewan even referred to him as a “mega fan” on her own Instagram Stories. Who would have thought?

The pair was first spotted kissing at the Casamigos Halloween Party in 2018. By the following week, they were enjoying the Haunted Hayride in Los Angeles’s Griffith Park with a group of friends.

Although Dewan shares her 6-year-old daughter Everly with ex-husband Channing Tatum, Kazee does not have children from any previous relationships. His child with Dewan will be his first. The couple announced their pregnancy via People, saying, “We are beyond overjoyed and couldn’t be happier to be expanding our family!”
