It’s been two months since Kathie Lee Gifford announced that she’s leaving the Today show after 11 years. And now, the series has found a brand-new replacement.
Jenna Bush Hager will take over as co-host when Gifford departs the morning show in April. The 37-year-old will lead the fourth hour alongside Hoda Kotb, and we’re just hoping their on-screen chemistry does Gifford justice.
Bush Hager announced the news in this week’s issue of People magazine. “I’m so excited, I can’t believe it,” she said. “It feels organic and it feels right. It just feels like the right time for me.”
Back in December, Gifford revealed that she’s departing the Today show to focus on personal projects. “It’s an exciting time for me, and I’m thrilled about all the projects that are coming up,” she explained. “But it’s also hard…because I love everybody here so much.”
