Jamie Foxx Admits How He Got Cameron Diaz to Come Out of Acting Retirement

We still haven't recovered from the news that Cameron Diaz is coming out of acting retirement, and now, Jamie Foxx has revealed how he convinced his former Annie co-star to get back into the business.

While talking with Entertainment Tonight, Foxx discussed the upcoming Netflix film, Back in Action, where he and Diaz will co-star. “Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business,” he said. “We love her.”

He then revealed the method he used to get the actress to join the project, and apparently it didn't take as much as pushing as one might think. “It was literally, ‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’” Foxx said. “And I think that's what brought her to it.”

The news was first shared back at the end of June, when Foxx made a post that said, “@camerondiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION—our new movie with @netflixfilm. Production starting later this year!!” He also added emojis of a fox and a goat.

Along with this announcement, Foxx shared a recording from a phone call he had with Diaz, where he also brought in a surprise guest to provide The Other Woman actress with a few un-retiring tips. “Listen, I got somebody on the other line that can help you with this. Can I click him in?” Foxx asked.

He then pulled in professional football player Tom Brady, who said, “Hi, Cameron...I was talking to Jamie and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire...I'm relatively successful at un-retiring.”

We've got you to thank, Jamie. We'll be counting down the days until Back in Action premieres.
