James Middleton Shares Touching Tribute to His Goddaughter on IG

"Proud of my amazing goddaughter Anouk"

Kate Middleton's brother, James Middleton, paid tribute to his goddaughter with a sweet message on social media.

Earlier this week, Middleton shared the emotional message in support of his 6-year-old goddaughter, Anouk, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)—a genetic condition that causes muscle weakness or shrinking. In his IG Story, the 37-year-old entrepreneur posted a screenshot of a recent DailyMail article, where Anouk's parents discuss their daughter's condition to help raise awareness.

He included a link to the Instagram page for ACE SMA—a charity dedicated to helping those suffering from the disease—and wrote, "So proud of Mike and Sophie for raising awareness of SMA and even more proud of my amazing goddaughter Anouk."

In the article, Anouk's parents opened up about having to readjust after their daughter was diagnosed with SMA in 2019. At the time, she was just 15 months old. Sophie told the publication, "We had to accept that she wouldn't be able to do the things we loved, and might not be able to do the things that we find easy, such as getting out of bed on her own. There's a grieving process for the life we assumed she'd have."

Fortunately, Middleton's goddaughter has since been receiving treatments, and she's been responding well. Sophie said, "Anouk is more mobile now so we take her swimming and horse riding, which really helps increase her core stability. We do stretches with her as often as we can."

Middleton's IG Story comes just a few days after he shared rare footage of his son, Inigo, and his wife, Alizee, playing with their dogs outdoors. He wrote, "I wish moments like this could last forever. This special moment is all thanks to Ella."

He continued, "Alizée, Inigo and all the dogs came to hear me speak for the first time about my book, Meet Ella. Ella introduced me to Alizée, a few years later we got married. Another year or so later Inigo arrived. Ella and Inigo never met, but every moment, Ella is with us. So if it wasn’t for that moment…I would not have been able to capture this moment."

Sounds like Anouk is quite lucky to have such a thoughtful godfather.
